Rooted in the Past. Acting in the Present. Building for the Future.

Who We Are

We draw on the Akan philosophy of Sankofa: to know where you are going, you must understand where you have been. Everything we do is guided by this principle and by a deep conviction that lasting change must be rooted in cultural identity, historical truth, and collective agency.

Our Areas of Focus

Community Development

We design and deliver programs that build capacity, foster resilience, and create tangible pathways to opportunity for individuals and communities across generations. Our community development work is grounded in the belief that lasting change must come from within communities themselves.

Youth Education & Programs

We invest in the next generation through educational initiatives that connect young people to their heritage, equip them with critical tools, and prepare them to lead. Our youth programs create spaces where young people in pan-African and diaspora communities can discover, question, and grow.

Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We challenge the structures and practices that perpetuate racial inequity, and support institutions and communities in building cultures of genuine inclusion and belonging. This work spans training, consultation, policy review, and ongoing organizational accompaniment.

Policy & Advocacy

We engage in evidence-based advocacy to advance equitable policies and systemic change at local, provincial, and national levels. We work with communities, institutions, and decision-makers to ensure that the voices and experiences of pan-African and racialized communities shape the policies that affect their lives.

Research & Academia

We generate and disseminate community-centered knowledge that foregrounds the experiences, histories, and perspectives of those most impacted by systemic inequity. Our research informs programming, policy, and practice, and is conducted in genuine partnership with the communities we serve.

A Different Future is Possible

We envision a Canada, and a world, in which pan-African, African diaspora, and racialized and marginalized communities hold the resources, recognition, and power to build equitable and prosperous futures. We are building the programs, partnerships, and platforms to help get there.

What we do

From intergenerational dialogue series to original pan-African drama, from community heritage education to youth programming, our work spans multiple forms and scales. All of it is free to the communities we serve.
